Announcing COVICON-20

Stuck at home under quarantine? Are all the schools shut down and you’re unsure what to do with your kids? I’m excited to announce CoviCon-20, the world’s first Quarantine Con.

Here’s how CoviCon-20 works: Every Sunday of quarantine is CoviCon-20. Any Sunday you play games with your family or friends counts. Simply share your experiences on social media or your own gaming blogs using the hashtag #CoviCon20. As long as it’s a Sunday and during quarantine, it counts as CoviCon-20. Board games, RPGs, tabletop wargames or even video games count, so long as those video games are played with others, not on your own.

You might try out Vassal or Tabletop Simulator for playing games online with others if you don’t have anyone to play with in-person.

Our kids’ school is shut down through at least April 24th, giving us plenty of time to play games. The first games on the docket for our own CoviCon-20 is Quarantine and Pandemic. I’ll be putting together a list of great games that work for CoviCon-20 sometime in the next week.

You can pick up your own CoviCon-20 attendee badge here, created by the delightful David Flor, AKA Brainclouds.

Have you thought about announcing it on Boardgamegeek?

    • That’s a great idea. Where would I share it over there?

May I also add Roll20 and Astral for online TTRPGs? Astral also has free access to their pro features until the end of April.
