Games to Play and Panels to Watch for CoviCon-20

The first week of CoviCon-20 was a huge success! I painted minis and we played Architects of the West Kingom. There was a ton of feedback and participation on social media and the numbers spiked on the site here, so that shows that lots of people were checking it out. The second day of the Con kicks off on Sunday, so I want you to get out there and play! Below, I have appropriately themed games for the circumstances. And below those, we’re gonna talk about game panels!

Quarantine: Quarantine is a little board game where everyone’s building their own hospitals in front of them, treating patients as they come along. But if the little grey cubes turn up, that’s the bad disease that rips through the hospital. When we play this weekend, those grey cubes are gonna be Covid.

Pandemic: Of course. Of course. I hear rumor that this game’s been selling like CRAZY. I’m tempted to pick up Pandemic Legacy and play through that during the Con.

The Ward: This PBTA RPG allows you to play as doctors in a medical drama. It’s sitting on my shelf, waiting to be played. Perhaps I’ll pull it out and run something online with it.

Dice Hospital: This one I’ve not played yet, or even own, but I hear good things about it.

Doctor Panic: This one’s a huge hit with the family. After introducing it to my in-laws, now both my sister-in-law and mother-in-law own it. If you have a larger family at home, the more the better. It’s a fun party game.

Okay, let’s talk panels. I’m considering running a panel myself, talking about a gaming topic and streaming it live on either Twitter or the Dice Monkey Facebook Page. I’m not sure what the topic will be about, of if I’ll film myself painting, but keep an eye out for that.

If you want to feel like you’re watching a panel, I’ve got a few great YouTube channels to recommend that have great gaming talks. The first is Matt Colville’s page. He’s a fantastic resource for DMing tips. He delivers little bite-size lectures that will really step up your game.

The second I recommend is Web DM, who have great videos on all kinds of D&D related topics.

As this Con continues, I’ll provide more game suggestions and YouTube lectures to check out. Enjoy! And get to gaming on Sunday!
