40K Player Explains Army List Is “Fluffy” While Tabling Opponent Turn Two
Local Warhammer 40,000 player Jason K. insisted his army list was “purely narrative” Saturday afternoon, moments before completely tabling his opponent by the end of turn two.
“I just built it to reflect the lore,” Jason explained while removing the last remaining enemy model. “This is how they would fight. Aggressively. Perfectly.”
According to witnesses, Jason’s army featured multiple highly efficient units, optimized wargear choices, and a detachment configuration commonly seen at top-table tournament play. Jason maintained that any perceived power level was incidental and that the list was “actually pretty casual.”
“I could’ve made it way worse,” he added, while referencing a stratagem interaction his opponent had not yet encountered.
The opposing player, who brought what he described as a “fun list,” spent much of the game removing models while being reassured that the matchup was “actually really close.” At one point, Jason paused the game to explain his army’s extensive backstory, including several tragic defeats that players later confirmed were not represented on the tabletop.
Tournament organizers confirmed the list was legal and that Jason had, in fact, used the phrase “fluffy but strong” at least five times during the match.
After the game, Jason expressed mild disappointment that the battle ended so quickly. “I was really hoping to show off some of the cooler combos later on,” he said. “But that’s just how the dice go.”
Jason has since clarified online that the list is “not meta” and that anyone struggling against it should “play the mission better.”
